As of yesterday, I am no longer approaching 60. It has arrived. Time continues to move at a greater pace every year and these first 60 have flown by.

Communication is key to a good partnership and this process has helped us to determine together what is important to us, our short term goals, our long term goals, and a plan to achieve them.

Find joy in the world and live a life of gratitude. Get busy living!

A good round or a bad round, they both teach me something about myself.

As I am watching the flood waters rise and praying for everyone’s safety, I am wondering if warm weather will ever arrive. It seems like it has been 50 degrees and rainy for 9 months.

The ability to walk the line between parent and friend and still remain relevant and invited in to his children’s lives, thoughts and feelings.

As we grow older, it seems like a lot of people spend a lot of time looking back. Thinking about the past and reminiscing about old times. Talking about what they “used to do” replaces discussions about what they are “going to do.”

My wife and our daughter Lea headed for Florida this past Friday to celebrate Lea’s last spring break, as she will be graduating from Ohio University in May.

Almost 6 years ago, this little soul entered our lives. He showed up early and gave us all a scare. He was small and fragile.

After almost a month away, we returned home to Williamstown on Tuesday evening. We love traveling and seeing and experiencing new places, but there is no place that feels more comfortable or more comforting than being home. Sleeping in your own bed. Being in your own space.

We had a brief conversation at dinner about how our roles as parents change as our kids grow up and have partners and kids. It got me thinking.

Nikki and I have had several discussions about what it is like to have siblings. It is a concept that is so foreign to me and one that I struggle to understand.

There is nothing quite like an adventure together to bring a family closer. The anticipation of the journey and the excitement of experiencing someplace new together.

I published my first blog on January 24, 2023. One year and 56 blog posts later, here we are. I thought I would take a moment to put the last year into perspective and share some things that I have learned over the past year of blogging.

What does it mean to be great? We constantly hear the term “great” bantered around today in the media. Who is the greatest golfer of all time? Who is the greatest quarterback of all time? Let’s make America great again.

Perhaps the first thing that springs to mind when you think of storytelling is a childhood experience of being told a story or a story that you have told a child. But storytelling does not just take place in a nursery or round a campfire. Stories are part of our daily lives, in the anecdotes we tell to our friends, the books we read, and the films we watch.

I can feel him starting to creep on me, particularly this time of year. The days are short with little sunshine. I spend a lot of time indoors. I start to get antsy and more anxious.

According to Webster, a resolution is a “firm decision to do or not to do something.”
